Arc spray gun

The Arc spray gun is used for the coating process on the surface of the substrate. In the arc spray coating process, the natural material in the form of metallic wires is melted by means of an electric arc. The molten material is atomized by compressed air and impinges on the surface of the workpiece.

Wire spray uses two consumable wires of metal to fed inside the gun independently. These wires are charged and then an arc is generated between them. The heat from this arc melts the incoming wires of metal. After going through this heating or melting process this molten metal entrained in an air jet from the gun.

This entrained molten metal deposited onto the workpiece with the help of compressed air. This process mostly used for heavy coating of metallic on the surface of the workpiece.

The Arc spray gun is another form of the arc which deposits a coating on the internal and external surface of a part of any geometry. The arc spray gun is mostly used for coating on the cylinder bores of an engine. Arc spray gun enables the use of an aluminum engine block without having heavy cast iron sleeves.

An arc is used to melts the wire that is a supersonic plasma jet. This supersonic plasma jet formed by transferred an arc between a non-consumable cathode and anode the wire which is used for coating.

Compressed air transports the molten droplets stream on the components after atomization. Due to the high kinetic energy the molten droplets impinge on the surface of the substrate and flatten. When molten droplets come in contact then they rapidly solidify.

The stacked particles make up a high wear-resistant coating on the component. The thermal spray process utilizes a single wire as the feedstock material.
